Pop Art Inspired Cake and cupcakes

I have always loved art, and there is something about pop art that I just truly adore.  I was inspired by art that I love from a Brazilian artist, Romero Britto.   Although I didn't copy any of his designs, I did use some of his whimsical and bold color combos.  I love when clients listen to my ideas and tell me to go for it!  Flavors are Red velvet,  and cream cheese buttercream. Thanks for looking!

Modern Vintage Cake

OK, I totally enjoyed making this cake! Love the combination of colors and loved that I got to use my paint brushes too!  This was for a bridal shower, but if a bride is bold and daring enough, this would be a wonderful wedding cake by just adding a couple of more tiers and flowers.  The flavor is Leelee's specialty rum cake with coconut cream filling.  Yum!!!!! The roses are made of gumpaste and yes, they are black and look absolutely fabulous.  Sometimes we need to think out of the box!  Thanks for looking!

Seashells Wedding Cake

This cake was for a bride getting married at the beach. The simple design and the colors are a soft reminder of the beach without it being to filled with too many things.  The blue around the bottom of the tiers are a reminder of the nice warm beach water. The Calla Lily flowers are made of gumpaste.  I hadn't done flowers for cakes in a while, but I see they are making a big come back! The shells are also made out of gumpaste.  The flavor is Moist red velvet with cream cheese filling.  I brushed some metalic silver on the ropes bordering the cake. The tiers are four inches high.

Brown and Beige Gift Box Cake

I made this cake for a grandfather of a client that was turning 90! What a blessing!  Leelee's specialty rum cake and MMF

Frog Baby Shower Cake

Let me start by saying that I dislike frogs a lot!  I find them to be one of the scariest creatures on God's green earth! lol! With that said, when I was asked to make a frog cake, I was worried, because I wanted him to look as cute as possible and not repulsive!  I had made one a while back and I had exactly the same feelings!  I think I achieved making him cute enough for a baby shower, hahaha!
Flavor:  Leelee's specialty rum cake covered in MMF.  The frog, water lilly pad and flowers  are all MMF with Tylose.

Princess Sweet Sixteen Cake

This cake gives the feel of the birthday girl's dress.  Her nickname is "Sleeping Beauty" and her big sister wanted a cake that would show this without it being childish.  We came up with this design, and of course, with a crown because every princess has to have one.
Flavor:  Marble cake with Oreo cookie filling.  Covered in MMF, decorations on cake: Royal icing.  the numbers and the crown are edible, made of pastillage and painted with edible silver and vodka. Wheb I delivered the cake, the fave of the birthday girl lit up and she told me how much she loved it.!

Lawyer Graduation Cake

I made this cake for a great customer of mine.  I really appreciate the trust she puts in my work, and I try to the best of my ability not to disappoint her.  She had sent me two pictures of what she was thinking of for this very special celebration.  We talked it over and came up with this rendition of what she wanted.  The cake includes the colors and logo or the university the person graduated from as well as a cap symbolizing the end of his studies, and of course, a gavel showing his profession.  The client was happy with the results and I was relieved!  The flavor of this cake is Leelee's specialty vanilla flavor.
The cake is covered with MMF.  All the details, cap, gavel and other accessories are all edible and made out of RKT and gumpaste and MMF.

Wedding Dress cake for a Bridal Shower

I was asked to replicate a wedding dress for a bridal shower with cake.  I suggested making it on those stands where they display wedding dresses.  The client agreed and sent me a picture of the very simple but pretty gown depicting the 40's.  I was delighted when she came this morning to pick it up.  She was very satisfied with how it turned out. I love to see people's smiles after receiving one of my designs.  It reminds me of why I love doing what I do.
The flavor is almond, requested by the shower girl, covered in MMF and the bodice of the dress is molded out of RKT. Piping details are made with royal icing. Thank you for looking!

All the decorations on it are made of MMF as well.  Thank you for looking!

Pink and White Mother's Day Cake and Mini Cakes

Well, the color of the week for me was mainly pink and white.  This is and 8 inch round.  Very simple, but pretty, the kind of thing that any mother would appreciate! It is a pina colada flavored cake, covered in MMF.

These I made for individual gifts for several people, including myself to give to family and friends.  The flavor is also pina colada.  These are 3.5 inch rounds, enough for two people. I placed them in a box and tied a pretty bow around them.  Great presentation.

Pearl and Flower Cupcakes

These are very simply decorated cupcakes.  Red velvet with cream cheese frosting and MMF flowers.

Sunshine Cookies

These are butter cookies decorated with Marshmallow Fondant and hand painted.  These were for a client that wanted to do something special for her co-workers for Mother's Day!  I thought it was a great idea!

Strawberry Shortcake Cake

This is a 2 tiered four inches high red velvet cake with vanilla cream cheese filling, and covered with marshmallow fondant.  The strawberries, flowers, and number 1 are also made with fondant with Tylo. The two mini cakes are 6 x2 inch rounds that I carved into the shape of strawberries.
The client absolutely loved it and for this I am really grateful, because we had never met personally.  She found me online, and we spoke on the phone a couple of times.  By her reaction to the cake, I believe I'll be seeing her again.

Cigar Box Cake grooms cake

I made this cake for my friend's wedding as a grooms cake for her husband to be. The flavor is Leelee's Vanilla Specialty.  A little note about this cake:  Some people actually thought this was a real cigar box because it was placed on a table that had cigars that at some point during the reception, the men that wanted, could go and smoke with the groom.  I stopped a gentleman that was about to try to open it and I told him not to do that because it wasn't real, that it was cake. He just looked at me funny and walked away.  Then, at the end of the reception, the grooms father went at it too, but I couldn't stop him and he did break the little lock, it was hilarious because he had a puzzled look on his face and my friend, the bride, told him it wasn't a real box, but a cake. The happy couple absolutely loved  and enjoyed it and this really made me happy as well!

Wall-E Cake

I really truly enjoyed making this cake!  It's 99% edible! WallE's head, neck, arms and wheels are all made of RKT covered in MMF.  His body consists of 4 2 inch layes of marble cake with vanilla bean filling. I could have made him look more like a hunk of metal but it was for a little girl's  birthday and I wanted him to look kind of whimsical.  I love the expression of his eyes!
