Mod Mom Baby Shower Cake

This cake was made for a baby shower. It serves 30 poeple. Very simple square cake decorated in two shades of green and circles, all MMF. The cake topper is a cookie that I created and decorated.

Mod Mom Cookie on a stick

This is a cookie on a stick I made for a baby shower to be the topper for a cake. I used a graphic and carefully cut the cookie, then I made the details in MMF. This is where my drawing and modeling skills came in handy! These can also be made as party favors for a baby shower and wrapped in a cellophane bag wuth a nice ribbon or in a cute box.

Butterfly 1st birthday Cake

This cake was made for a friend"s daughter's b-day! All vanilla covered with MMF. For 40 people. It's funny, I had said I was only going to be baking no more than a cake a week because this is something that requires time to achieve a professional looking piece and I work full time, but as of lately I have been bombarded with orders that I cannot refuse. What I love the most is that my daughters have shown interest in helping me and they are both very talented and have the same sense of perfectionism that to me is crucial. I consider my self being very blessed!!!

This is a cake I made for someone that loves Starbucks/ The flavor of this cake is Capuccino, a new recipe I created. People that I gave it to taste absolutely loved it! The cake is made with 2 6 in tiers and an 8 inch that I carved to give it a tapered look. it's stocky because the size this person drinks is the tall (small). Coverd in mocha flavored buttercream and then covered in Fondant including the logo.

Lighthouse Cake

This was a fun cake!!! I made it for a bridal shower where the theme was... you guessed it... Lighthouses! This cake is edible top to bottom (except for the base and the dowel holding the light house). Details are made of royal icing and MMF.The Lighthouse

Jonas Brother's Guitar Cake

I enjoyed making this cake so much. It was for a little girl that loves the Jonas Brother's. This guitar can be made to look more grown up, like for a Teen that loves the JB too by using other colors and giving more texture to the actual fondant. The flavor of the cake was vanilla with vanilla bean flavored butter cream before adding the top layer of MMF. I made a 14 x14x3 inch square cake to carve the guitar box and then an 8 x8x3 square pan to make the long part of the guitar with hardly any cake to waste after carving.Click on picture to see larger

Zebra and Purple party

I made a small cake with cupcakes. This was a bachelorette party and the theme was zebra and purple. I use elements I had around the house. I printed some pictures of the girl and her fiance and added it to the cake. I took some lunch bags and placed prizes inside and decorated them with some zebra and purple paper. Made little vignettes here and there clustering things and it was a lovely party.

Hamburger Cupcakes

I absolutely had a blast making these tiny cupcakes that look like hamburgers and cookies that look like french fries. I saw these on Bakerella and thought they were the cutest thing.

Indoor Picnic

For Father's Day we had an indoor picnic (weather outside was horrid). A white tablecloth with a red and white gingham material draped carelessly over the table, a basket filled with silverware wrapped with napkins tied with a piece of frayed gingham ribbon, a galvanized giant bucket with sodas and ice in it, a rustic watering can and a bottle with daisies in it, great people and delicious food made this indoor affair a hit.

Zebra and Pink Dinner Part

This was a fun dinner party to put together. My daughters decided to throw a dinner party for some of their closest friends and they called it the "Just Because" Dinner Party. Of course, mom came to the rescue. I went to Joanne's fabric and bought a piece of zebra print and made a runner for the table. I used a cute $1 chandelier stamp and made the invitations and napkin holders with zebra. and plain pink scrapbook paper. We bought wooden letters with the initial of each of the guests. I painted the girls' letters in black and white acrylic paint, zebra style, and tied a pink with black dot ribbon, and for the guys, I painted their letters in black and tied a zebra ribbon. You cannot have a dinner party without a menu. These were printed on white paper, trimmed with zebra paper and placed on a giant fun clothespin that I painted black with a little zebra or pink ribbon. For a charger I used pretty pink scrapbooking pages. For the centerpiece I used black vases with giant silk fuschia Gerbera daisies that I bought at Michael's on sale. These teens had a blast.

Battleship

I made this cake for a friend of my daughters that was getting ready to leave to the Navy.

Valentine's Dinner

With the economy the way that it is at the present it can be a bit expensive to go out to a nice restaurant to eat with all your friends for Valentine's. This year I decided that I would invite a few good friends and have dinner at home. Those who know me well know that I have to make it special. I found a nice digital brush for photoshop and designed my invitations and put a little bit of red bling on them. I continued the theme and designed tags that I attached to inexpensive black tiny bags and embellished them with a red satin ribbon and bling, of course, and placed some hershey kisses inside. These were party favors as well as placecards. I bought four $1 picture frames at Michael's and coverded them with scrapbook paper that fit my decor. As my guest arrived I took a picture of each couple. For the centerpiece I bought white cheap pillar candles and printed the motif I used for the invitations, etc. on tissue paper (not an easy task) and cut them to fit around the candles and with a blow dryer on medium the tissue melted into the candle seamlessly. It looked like it was printed on the candle itself. During dessert I sneaked out and printed the pictures I had taken earlier. As my guests were ready to leave I gave them the picture frame replacing the menu with the picture I took of them. It was a lovely night and we all had a great time together.

Cupcake Tower

This was a blast to make. These are vanilla cupcakes with cute little puple and blue flowers made out of fondant. the top tier was an 8 inch round cake. This was made for a Hawwaiian themed birthday party.

Thanksgiving 08 Dinner

I love a pretty table especially for such a beautiful time of the year where the family gathers and thanks God for every blessing. This past year I bought these two pretty stamps and decided that I would use them to do my menus, napkin rings and place cards. You can't really see in the pictures, but I heat embossed the stamping leaving a nice puffy outline. I used nice pearlized papers in green, pumpkin and tan. I inked the edges of the menus and place cards with a sepia color. I bought a piece of fabric that has leaves and made napkins. I used a pretty sage colored tablecloth. For the centerpiece I used candles and draped a vine of leaves around it. I also made leaf cookies in the same colors as party favors and placed them in a plastic wrapper with a ribbon in similar colors.

Thanksgiving 08

This was my dessert cake for my last Thanksgiving dinner. The theme was Fall Leaves.

Thanksgiving Cookies

Great alone or as a centerpiece if placed on sticks

Christmas Entertaiment

During the holidays it is tradition for us to make a big deal in preparing our favors and having a nice presentation for dinnerI made my centerpiece inspired on individual centerpieces I saw in a Scrapbooking magazine. Basicallyit is made out of felt cut in a tree shape and hand sewn with lots of buttons and fun ribbons. I stuffed them with pillow stuffing, put in a dowel and placed them inside a pretty holiday tin through some Styrofoam that I hid with shimmery tissue paper resembling snow. I made the favor boxes from a template I'd downloaded from the internet using pretty scrapbooking paper and placed some fancy white chocolate and milk chocolate bonbons inside and continued the christmas tree theme. For the napkin rings I used the same little tree and cardstock. I then scanned one of the the trees and created the menus in Photoshop and made the place cards. Instead of writting people's names I opted for a picture of every guest. I used red charges and beautiful berry cups to complement the decor. Everyone thought everything looked so pretty.

Christmas Cookies

Scrumptious Christmas cookies. These are loose, but they can also be arranged on sticks and be made into a beautiful bouquet to adorn your Christmas table.
