Minnie and Mickey birthday party

I know I always say this. but I loved working on this theme! My sister-in-law, Annie, wanted to have a combined party and was pulling her hair not knowing what to do for Giselle's 4th birthday and Christopher's 1st Birthday that didn't take away from the importance of Chris' first celebration since their birthdays are so close in date.  She wanted to be practical because they were taking the kids to Disney World and to have two separate parties was an unnecessary expense.  Although Giselle's 1st birthday was Minnie Mouse , we all thought it was still something appropriate because she loves the characters and also, it was a great idea because of their trip to the Magic Kingdom. So Mickey and Minnie in all their glory it was.  Annie always knows what she likes and wants and I'm happy she and I have similar taste and like simplicity and symmetry.  I can't help it, it's how my brain works, lol!

I made two 8" round cakes in Marble loaf with vanilla buttercream filling, eache topped with a half circle of yellow pound cake that were covered in black fondant and then I placed ears made out of black fondant with a spinkle of Tylose to harden. I decorated one of the cakes as for Minnie and the other for Mickey.  I also made Cake pops in the shape with mouse ears, sugar cookies, cupcakes and decorated them as Mickey and Minnie, I also made marshmallow pops.  Decorations were balloons in the three colors, die cut banner and center pieces with their names and ages, as well as paper hats with ears and goody bags with Mouse silhouettes that I put together.  The kids were dressed like Mickey and Minnie and looked so darn cute! Annie had everyone come dressed in black, white, or red.  Although, it was a very small party with family only and a few very close friends everything turned out awesome.  My husband made a mean BBQ in the backyard!

Elmo cake

This is a smaller version of the first Elmo Cake I made a while back. This is a returning client that I had made her daughter an Owl cake last year for her first birthday and she loved it so much that she ordered her daughter's 2nd birthday cake with me. The flavor was Leelee's vanilla-rum cake with dulce de leche filling. This client wrote this text to me:

"Just wanted to say... As always, the Elmo cake was beautiful. Plus delicious thank you for helping to make great memories for my kids"

Sex and The City Cake

This cake was for a client that was looking for a cake that had a Sex and the City feel for her birthday. The shoe is made of gumpaste.

Little Monster Cake

This cake was made for a very special young lady that is having a baby.  Her theme was little monsters.  I enjoyed making this cake for her.

Brave Cupcakes and Cookies

I made these goodies for a client that always orders for both her daughters' birthday.  Her theme this year was Brave and she asked for cupcakes, cookies, cakepops, choco Oreos and pretzel sticks covered in chocolate.  The little elements of the cupcakes are made with MMF

Minnie Mouse Pastels Cake

I so enjoyed making this cake.  This mother didn't want her little girl's cake to be so "Mousey" and decided to show me a picture of two cakes that I combined to end up with this for her little girl.  All flowers and number 1 are made of gumpaste and MMF with Tylose.  The cupcakes are red velvet with cream cheese frosting and decorated with crystal sugar and pearls.  I also made chocolate Minnie cake pops and chocolate covered mashmallows.

Chinese Inspired Cake

It's been a while since I have posted anything in my blog.  Honestly, I've been too busy and then lazy to actually sit down in front of the computer to post, well I decided to put some up.  I made some cakes that I cannot find the pictures for, or maybe, I just didn't take any.  Oh, well!
This cake was made for a lady that was turning 50.  I really love the way it came out.  The fans are made of gumpaste as well as the flowers.

Teal and Red Dessert Table

I just love, love, love this color combo and so does the person I made this for.  This was for a girl I consider family, beautiful, stylish Amanda Marie, not to mention that her parents are great friends of ours and our kids have grown up together.  Amanda told me exactly what she wanted and I didn't want to disappoint her.  I made little teal caps with red tassles to be placed on her favorite cupcake flavor, red velvet with creamcheese frosting. I also made little diplomas with a red ribbon for vanilla cupcakes with buttercream frosting. Chocolate covered pretzels where to chocolate was the shape of a diploma with a red ribbon,  chocolate/nutella cake pops in teal covered in teal chocolate. marshmallow pops dipped in white chocolate rolled in teal and red sugar crystals, red chocolate covere Oreos.  Her celebration was at the park so her mom had filled mason jars with red carnations and placed a teal ribbon around the jar, absolutely fabulous!!!!!! This was at placed at the dessert table as well (my dessert tables will always be very simple and the actual goodies on the table along with the colors and textures used will always be the stars and what will stand out, not too much clutter becuase after all it is a DESSERT table). Her mom, a school teacher, made the banner (forgot the name of those triangular thingies) that was the perfect backdrop for the goodies placed on the table.  Amanda was delighted with how it turned out as well as her parents and that was very important to me. Yey!

Graduation Cake

I have been making cakes for this client for years now.  I have lost count of how many cakes I have made for her; her girls Quinces, family birthdays, and recently her girls graduation from college and university. Her youngest daughter just graduated and she wanted a special cake to celebrate the ocasion.  She sent me three separate pictures of which she wanted elements from. The doll is made of sugar. I went ahead and created exactly what she had requested and she loved it!
