Tinkerbell Cake, Cookies, and Cupcakes

I love making goodies for this client.  She reminds me so much of me when my girls were little.  Their birthdays, even if they were small celebrations, had to be detailed.  She is a scrapbooker like me so she is into little details which I love.  She wanted Tinkerbell cookies that had Tinkerbell on them and offered to lend me her Tinkerbell Cricut Cartdrige for me to use with my Cricut Cake.  Let me tell you, it was a royal pain in the butt to cut them.  Easier said than done, but I was so determined to make my friend happy, and me being as stubborn as I am, that I tried and tried until I got it! The only thing was getting Tink's eyes right without her looking like she was demon possessed, so I had to use my handy dandy edible markers that I only use for details.  Don't really like the painted look, I prefer to piece things with the colored fondant because it looks more professional, but for something as small as this it really worked.  Tinkerbell looked like herself, no exorcism required, lol!  The cake was a small 6x6 cake for the birthday girl, 24 cupcakes decorated as a garden with flowers, and the infamous cookies that came out so pretty.  When my friend picked up her baked goodies, her face lit up!  She knew her precious little girl would be happy!  Yey, love happy endings!

Painted Mini Cakes

These are 4x4 mini cakes that I decided to play with some edible paint and messed around with some techniques.  I'm posting them up to share what I did.  These are super cute to say "I love you" to someone special or for a theme party where you would like to give individual cakes!

Hugs and Stitches 3

This is a very popular theme for little girls first birthday parties.  This is not exactly how the person that ordered all these elements will be placing them, but I wanted to see how they would look arranged and to give people ideas on how to prepare a very simple dessert table.  Thanks for looking. The flavor of the cake is moist red velvet, the cookies were vanilla bean, the cupcakes and mini cakes were vanilla and chocolate.  The kind of flavors that children love!

Pink and White Mother's Day Cake and Mini Cakes

Well, the color of the week for me was mainly pink and white.  This is and 8 inch round.  Very simple, but pretty, the kind of thing that any mother would appreciate! It is a pina colada flavored cake, covered in MMF.

These I made for individual gifts for several people, including myself to give to family and friends.  The flavor is also pina colada.  These are 3.5 inch rounds, enough for two people. I placed them in a box and tied a pretty bow around them.  Great presentation.

Strawberry Shortcake Cake

This is a 2 tiered four inches high red velvet cake with vanilla cream cheese filling, and covered with marshmallow fondant.  The strawberries, flowers, and number 1 are also made with fondant with Tylo. The two mini cakes are 6 x2 inch rounds that I carved into the shape of strawberries.
The client absolutely loved it and for this I am really grateful, because we had never met personally.  She found me online, and we spoke on the phone a couple of times.  By her reaction to the cake, I believe I'll be seeing her again.

Valentine's Bear Mini-Cake and Cupcakes

This is a mini cake with a cute bear on top.  I made the bear out of MMF that I stiffened a little with tylose.  I used a stamp for the words.  The cupcakes are vanilla decorated with MMF and painted with food color and gold dragees.

Hugs and Stitches Cake

My first cake of 2010! The year already started super busy! I thank God for this blessing!  Lots of fun things to create, Yippee!
I've done this cake before, but this time the color scheme was different.  The person who ordered it has a pair of twin little girls that are turning one and she wanted this color scheme and two mini cakes for the girls. This cake serves 70 people. The flavor of the two tiered cake is marble with chocolate ganache filling , it's also covered with the ganache before being covered with the fondant.  The mini cakes are vanilla with fluffy vanilla frosting before adding the fondant.
The mini cakes were carved into flowers from 6 inch cakes.  The flower and butterflies are made with fondant with Tylose.  Details and gingham painted by hand with food coloring.  Super fun cake to create!

Christmas Tree Mini Cakes

I made these mini cakes for the people I spend most of my day with, my coworkers. It was great baking and decorating them.  The flavor is  the moist Leelee's vanilla specialty, and vanilla MMF. These are super cute on their own, but even nicer when you take the time to get a box just the right size and place some fun tissue paper inside, then tie a cute bow with a little card.  It really made me happy seeing those little boxes when they were finished on my table top!

Mini Cakes

I felt so honored! I was asked to make the mini cakes for my church's marriage vow renewal service. They were at total of 33 4 inch round mini cakes. I had to keep the decorations to a minimum because they were so many and I had so little time since I also had other cakes to bake as well. Luckily, I had the help of my oldest daughter Ashley that has mad skills. Normally the one who helps me is Lauren (also very talented), but she was busy.
The experience at church with my cakes was amazing! As the couples left the service there pictures were taken and then they proceeded to the reception area, there they signed a marriage certificate and they received there mini wedding cake (one per couple) with a drink. They were so happy to receive there cake. After tasting the cake they returned to ask if I had business cards, to the point that I ran out of the ones I had taken. Some people started to talk to me about upcoming events in there near future and assured me they would be calling me. I am so thankful to God for this opportunity. I love that I am able to pick and choose the things I want to do and I love it!
