I loved making this cake! I underestimated how long it would actually take me decorating it, but it truly was fun! The client sent me a picture of a cake she liked and I replicated it with a few changes, but in a much larger scale. The cake was to serve 100 people. The bottom tier was and top tier are red velvet with creamcheese buttercream, and the middle tier was yellow cake with vanilla bean buttercream. The parts that took so long making were the frill on the middle tier. I though I'd never finish, then the chevron on the bottom tier, because it is tricky to cut the pieces and have the line up exactly where they should. This cake looks super simple, but it takes precision to get everything straight and polished looking. I think I accomplished that. I was so pleased to see that they everyone loved it.

Owl Cake
One of my good friends called me up and asked if I could make a cake for a family member of hers that was pregnant and wanted to reveal the gender of her baby to her family. I made the cake in colors that could be for a girl or a boy, but inside the cake was a bright pink. Although it was a last minute cake that I literally baked and decorated the same day, I think it came out pretty darn cute!

Damask Black & Gold Dessert Table
This very simple, but elegant dessert table was for a graduation party of a lovely young lady. She had seen the dessert table that I had created for my daughter Ashley's 21st birthday party and she fell in love with the concept. She showed me the invitation and asked me to incorporate the colors and design. She wanted it to be sleek and elegant and that is exactly what I did. I send her a quote for 8 different elements. We agreed on what they would be. I placed the elements in a symmetrical fashion and let the elements speak for themselves without stuff cluttering the table. I was also a guest at the party and I could not believe how many people were impressed with my work and how professional everything looked. Not only did I get to enjoy a fabulous party with awesome hosts, but it also became an opportunity to network.
