All Star Sports Theme Cake and Goodies

My sister-in-law is having a baby boy and I helped her plan her baby shower. She wanted a sports theme for her co-ed baby shower. We got vases in the shape of soccer balls, footballs, basketballs, and baseballs, and used those for centerpieces, each one with a onesie cookie and four different balls, decorated with . They looked super cute on each of the tables lined with blue tablecloths. I also used the balls for the dessert table for the red velvet cake pops and the marshmallows covered in dark chocolate with blue sprinkles which I covered in a brown tablecloth. The cake was a hit! People loved it. It was Marble loaf with vanilla buttercream filling. The elements were all made of gumpaste. My sister-in-law and brother-in-law loved their shower elements very much and I was happy to be part of making this day special for them.

OK, yes, I already posted a similar cake before, but this one was a bit smaller and honestly, because I had done it before, It came out nicer and cleaner. Neatness is super important to me and I am my greatest critic. Let me tell you about this client... I absolutely love her! Love her amazing and impeccable taste, the way she plans her events, and how she envisions what she wants to the last detail. I love doing things for her and she always comes to me for her special events. Now about the cake...This cake is crazy... Not only s it fuchsia on the outside, but as you cut into it, it is of a lighter pink color too with vanilla frosting in the middle. I also made Minnie pops for her, flavor vanilla buttercream. Guess what color inside? Yes, pink as well. I had a blast working on this.

Vintage Baby Shoe cake

A Client of mine referred me to her friend. She wanted a simple yet classy cake for her shower. Her colors were baby blue, and shades of beige. We went back and forth on what to do until she told me to do what I thought worked, that she trusted me. I came up with this, which was a combination of two cakes I had showed her. She absolutely loved it and I was relieved, lol! This is a 10x10 x 5 round cake. 3 vanilla torts with chocolate ganache filling. The shoes and rattle are made out of gumpaste. The rest is just regular marshmallow fondant.

Miami Heat White Jersey Cake

Snowflake Dessert Table

Christmas celebration at home this year was weird. I had decided that I wasn't going to do much. This created a problem with some family members to the point that I decided that to keep the peace and harmony of my family, I would this one last time go ahead and do something nice. I had everything at home so I didn't have to break the bank last minute. One thing is for sure, I refuse to spread myself so thin next year. I'm getting too darn old for so many things in one day! The day before I cooked, made desserts, and set the table and dessert table. I did as much as I could because I knew that for Christmas Eve I would not have enough time to finish everything. I told my husband to do a couple of things, such as heating the food at a certain time because I would be home late. I left that morning at 11 am to go rehearse (We had two Christmas Eve services that Ashley and I were part of the praise team). I got home at 9 pm and the food was cold. Our guests were all already there. At first, my reaction was anger, a desire to run away or kill my beloved husband for not doing what I had asked for. If I would have gone ahead and done what my heart wanted at that moment I probably would have looked like a mad woman in need of a restraining jacket or would have gone to jail for murder... on Christmas Eve... due to cold food... crazy, I know, lol! . So I decided that it made more sense to breath, take it easy, heat up the food and make the best of it. It was great having the Tabora's over, They are like family so things didn't feel awkward at all., thank God!!! Everyone complemented the food and expressed how lovely everything looked. Lauren, as usual, made everyone laugh with her crazy, sarcastic remarks and so did Christine. Ashley was very quiet this evening because she was extremely tired because her and I were up and down and all around that day. At the end, when I sat down with everyone at the table, I had a blast. We all did. It turned out to be an amazing night after all!

Now about the stuff this blog is really about:
My Theme was Snowflakes, Red, Silver and White. For the dessert table I made a Red velvet with creamcheese frosting and cupcakes. I garnished them with little snowflakes I made out of Gumpaste. I also place Carmel and figs in the little shot glasses. I made eggnogg flavored cake balls covered in white chocolate Vanilla cookies in the shape of snowflakes and my famous Coconut flan.

Cat in the Hat Cake and Goodies

Oh my, I loved this theme... loved the colors and loved the elements I made for this precious little boy! The cake is completely edible. I cut out the pieces of the cat, kite, thing 1 and two from gumpaste and once it dried in a couple of hours I used edible colored markers and drew and colored in the details. I made cookies in the shape of the hat and used red and white fondant and then details were added with the black marker. I tried painting the red on cookies, but it looked, well.. painted and cheap. I'm too picky. I rather put in the extra work to have a product that I am proud of. I loved how they turned out the hard way, lol! I also made hats out of marshmallows first dipped in white chocolate, then painted with red chocolate. These looked adorable. I made cake pops and added blue hair with fondant to look like Thing 1 and Thing 2. I placed everything on a table I have at home with a turquoise tablecloth to see how it looked and to give the client an idea on how she could display the elements. She had beautiful things for her tables though. But it was just and idea. The flavor of the cake was vanilla with oreo cookie filling. Thanks for looking.

Mickey and Minnie Pops and Cake

I had never made so many cake pops all at once. the most I had done was 60. I made 120 of these things and they where each decorated individually. I was blessed to have such a great partner, my hubby. I don't know why he puts up with me because I am very demanding and I can be a witch when I say things if I don't like them. He helped making each and every pop making sure that they were all exactly round and exactly the same size (I inspected each of them, lol). Half were brownie/chocolate and the other half were vanilla/buttercream. I made Cookies half Minnie and Half Mickey. I also made a cake in the shape of a star where the client placed these huge and beautiful porcelain Britto Mickey and Minnie. The birthday was at the Children's Museum so this was super appropriate. The pops were a hit! Thank God for that!

Thanksgiving 2011

Every year I always select a theme to decorate my table for Thanksgiving. This year I wanted something simple yet elegant. I love sunflowers and although these are always paired with a more country type decoration, I wanted it to have a more elegant and simplistic feel. I used brown satin table cloths and bright yellow napkins. I made little 1.5x1.5 favor boxes where I placed a truffle for each guest and used the decorated boxes as place settings. I also printed and decorated our menus. I loved my petit dessert table. It only had three desserts because from experience I know that after a big Thanksgiving meal people really don't have space in their bellies for a whole lot of sweets. Although not a great variety of desserts, they were a hit just the same and the right amount too. Some people wonder why I go through all the trouble of doing all of that. My answer to that is that I enjoy making my friends and family feel pampered and special, and this is one of the many ways I can express my love and appreciation to them as well as using my creativity. My favorite part of this is when finally after a day spent cooking and preparing we all sit around the table and give thanks to God for another year of his provision, blessings, family, trials, and life. Without Him this is just a day where people sit around and eat. At the end of every Thanksgiving I am left with the wonderful memories of what everyone had to say of what they were thankful for. I have seen how through the years my girls have grown by listening to how with time their words have matured and how God is an important part of their lives. I must say that Thanksgiving is my second favorite holiday and it's not for the great food served every year.

The client of this cake found me through my blog and she loved my work so she contacted me. She asked me if she could sample my cakes. I gave her a list of the cakes I make and she chose two that I made for tasting. I made a yellow loaf with Oreo buttercream filling and a yellow loaf with light whipped buttercream with fresh strawberries. She and husband had a hard time deciding, but at the end chose the second. This is not entirely my design. she brought me a picture of this cake and I made it with some modifications. I will go and deliver it today and hopefully she will love it! This cakes was made for an adorable little girl that absolutely loves her Maltese named Pepi. Her favorite color is purple and her second favorite color is blue. She's a girly girl and knows what she likes at the tender age of 8. Her mom wanted to make her something special that would make her little girl smile. Their family has gone through a lot this year. Hopefully Sophia enjoyed her cake just as much as I did making it for her. The dog is sculpted out of cereal treats covered in MMF with Tylose. My husband said to me: "Wow, Negra (term of endearment to me) you truly are an artist" That made me feel great and honestly, I love how the dog came out, it really looks like Pepi. This was so much fun to do. The recipient of this cake had asked me for a particular cake that she wanted for her birthday. I was going to make it when her sister called me and asked me not to make the cake her sister wanted because she was throwing a surprise party for her and wanted a funny cake instead. I had to tell the birthday girl that something came up and I could not make what she had asked for. I felt really bad because she was disappointed. Needless to say she was super surprised with the birthday bash her sister threw in her honor, and although it wasn't the cake that she originally wanted, she still loved it

I wish I could say the idea for this cake was mine, but that would be cheating. The client showed me several cakes for her little boy's birthday and I just fell in love with the one I replicated with a few minor changes. I absolutely loved the figures because they are little boys dressed up like the super heroes. I thought the idea was appropriate for a 4 year old boy. I totally enjoyed making this cake. the figures, the bats, the moon and the symbol on top are all made out of gumpaste. The cakes were each 6 inches high and each tier consisted of 3 Leelee's specialty vanilla divided by dulce de leche filling.When the client picked it up she was really happy and gave me a hug. I was so happy!

Minnie Mouse Hot Pink Cake

This client found me on my FB page and contacted me. We made an appointment and we met. She showed me a couple of pictures of what she wanted and I designed this cake for her from two that she had showed me. The bottom tier is Red Velvet with creamcheese cream filling. the top tier and the Mickey hat are vanilla loaf with coookies and cream buttercream filling. I wasn't home when the client picked up the cake, but my husband said that she was thrilled with how it came out. I also made 500 cupcakes, 25 vanilla and 25 chocolate. They were decorated half in hot pink icing, ears and bow, and the other half was covered in red icing with only ears. I forgot to take pictures of the cupcakes.

Mickey 1st Birthday Cake and Cookies

I have to start by saying that I love this client. Although we met, well, through cake, lol! I really don't recall how she found me; on my web or blog , Facebook? I'm really not sure... When she comes to pick up her cakes we just talk and talk. She has amazing taste when it comes to parties and I love how she explains exactly what she wants. She loves having parties at her house, and having the perfect cake or goodies is essential for her all of her events. We talked about what she may want for Halloween, Xmas and other future things in her life. I just love her energy. Anyway, this cake is completely edible. The Mickey hat, top and bottom tiers are marble cake iced and filled with buttercream icing and then covered with MMF. The Mickey I hand drew and painted with edible color. He's so cute! I really enjoyed making this cake a lot. Love the color combo of baby yellow, sky blue and lime green. When she picked it up she said: I am never disappointed with your work, music to my ears! The client that asked for this cake goes all out for her little boys birthday. She wanted a tall Cars cake for his second birthday. She also asked for two cookies bouquets and cupcakes spelling out "Happy Birthday" She gave me all the cars to place on the cake. When I went to deliver the cake and goodies to her house, she was really really happy and I was amazed at the level of decoration for her party and how she had turned her backyard into a race track. This is a popular theme these days for children's parties! I think every other cake I make has this theme or Minnie. I really don't mind at all. This cake was also for a returning client. I love these faithful people! I had made the baby shower cake for this couple. It was a King of the Jungle cupcake and cake tower. Now they have a precious little boy that was turning one already (how time flies by)and they contacted me and told me what they wanted. The proud daddy was specific about how it should look and the color. I obliged and when the daddy picked up the cake, he was a happy camper.

Tangled Tower 2

I was contacted by a very good client of mine that does these spectacular birthday parties for her kids. Every time I have made a cake for her, it has been something with details and I love that. This year for her little girl's party she wanted a Tangled Tower, but not just any tower, she wanted something with details. She showed me a picture of what she wanted and asked me if I could do it and I said, heck yeah! I had already made a similar cake, but the tower was all RTK, very simple in comparison. This time the tower was more similar to the one of the movie and the top was a 6 inch cake that not only had to be decorated in detail, but had to be transported without falling off. I'm happy that I have seen quite enough TV shows where I've learned to construct sturdy bases. So I went to work with the help of my hubby and created this beautiful cake. I enjoyed every minute of making it. When my client came to pick it up I just enjoyed her smile and how she said it was so beautiful! Yey! She was putting on the little figurines at the party and will send me pictures of her little ones celebration. Thanks for looking!

Bumble Bee Shower Cake and Goodies

I was thrilled when this client asked me to make her baby shower cake and dessert table goodies. When she told me her theme and color scheme, I got even more excited! She sent me some pictures of things she would like and we agreed on what to do. The bumble bees are made of fondant and painted with food color paint. Daisies are also made of fondant with a little tylose for stability. The cake is made out of a 10 , 8, 6 and 4 inch pans that I carved to make look roundish and then put dulce de leche in between layers and buttercream. I must say that I was happy with how it turned out and so was the client. I also made fudge cake pops, marshmallow covered in white chocolate with sprinkled sugar, butter cookies in shapes of bees flowers and behives, and last but not least, mint chocoloate covered oreos.

I went back and forth with the client choosing colors, style and ideas. she sent me a picture of a designer shoe she loved and I said I would try to replicate it out of sugar. The shoe had crystals so I made gum paste swatches with different edible finishes that were similar to the bling on the shoe. To make this story short, the client loved it when she saw it and I was ecstatic! The bottom layer is red velvet with cream cheese frosting and the top is my moist guava cake

Coca Cola Classic Cake

OMG! Did I have a blast making this or what? The client wanted to surprise his girlfriend's mother that happens to love coke. He challenged me by saying that he wanted me to make him a cake in the shape of a Coca Cola bottle and I said" "heck yeah". I love, love to make 3D structures out of cake. Let me tell you, this cake was carved out of 5 6 inch cakes that were carved into the bottle and the peak was RTK all covered in fondant. In the picture the cake looks small, but in reality it was 17 inches tall. When the client came to pick it up he said he didn't think it would turn out to be as big as it was. I was truly happy the way it turned out. the flavor was Leelee's Specialty rum cake with dulce de leche filling.

I was so thrilled when I was asked to make this cake. The client had an idea of what she wanted and sent me several pictures of which she wanted separate elements from. I really don't know much about Pokemon, but when I have a cake to do of something that is very popular and I don't know much about it, I do some research. Did you know that there's a gazillion Pokemon characters? I feel bad for the parents that would have to purchase all of these for their little one's collection. It should truly cost a fortune! lol! Anyway, I made the little characters out of MMF with Tylose. The client wanted the child's name in Pokemon font, so I downloaded the font and created it then in photoshop to give it a little twist and cut letters out in yellow and then in a deeper blue. I was happy with the result. The ball is made out of yummy Leelee's specialty vanilla with dulce de leche filling as well as the bottom cake, I also made cookies for this client. Her hubby came to pick up the cake and he looked really worried. I asked if he liked the cake and he said: "OH, yes, I'm just concerned that it will arrive in one piece". I assured hime that if he drove safely there would not be any problems. He smiled and left.

Tinkerbell (another one)

To me this cakes as many times as I have done it, does not get old. I love the colors! This one was a bit larger than the other one's I've done lately, but in the same colors. The client wanted it to look very girly!

Ok, so you may be thinking: "hello! you've posted that cake several times before! Give us something new!" It's a bit different than the other ones I've made, I promise. Hey, it is a popular cake right now and if a client wants it, what am I to do? I think I can do this cake with my eyes closed. lol! It's always fun to see the clients face when they actually pick their cake up. It doesn't get old for me. Although it is something I've done again and again, for each client, it's something new and wonderful and just what they wanted.

Arabian Night Quince Cake

This client is the niece of a very dear friend of mine since high school. She wanted to make a cake for her little sister that was turning 15 and was worried because she had to drive the cake from Miami to Fort Myers. I would say it is a good 3 hour drive from where I live. The cake was intricate in it's design. The top and bottom layers are six inches high and the middle layer is 4 inches high. The flavor is marble with vanilla bean buttercream filling. The number is made of equal parts of fondant and gumpaste and molded by hand. the swirls are made of royal icing and gilded in edible 24 Karat gold. I made sure that the cake was sturdy enough for the ride reinforcing it with wooden dowel rods. I loved the colors the client selected" a deep purple, a pretty electric blue, and a fuchsia. The cake had shimmer on it, but you can't really see it in the picture. I helped place the cake in the car at 7 am Saturday morning and literally prayed that it would make it in one piece. I have not heard from the client yet, but believe everything went well.

Organic, Chevron Baby Shower Cake

So I get a call from this lovely young lady telling me that she wanted me to make her sister's baby shower cake, I immediately said yes because I had made her sister's wedding cake too and I just love this amazing family. I had received an invitation to the shower, so in my head I thought the cake would look similar to the invitation. I was blown away in a good way when I saw the design of the cake. Apparently it had nothing to do with the theme, only the colors selected were the same as in the invitation, but me being an artist and knowing that all of them are too, I knew that they had something up their sleeves and it was going to be fun to see. The design of this cake looks so easy, but let me tell you, it was a challenge, because I do things in a very free form way, without rulers or measurements. I just eyeball things and that's it. Having said this, if it doesn't look right I will do it again until it does. I am a perfectionist by nature and this gets me in trouble. Anyway, I wasn't going to be able to be free in this case at all. Thank God I had good grades in geometry! Surprisingly the only "number" subject I actually liked in high school. I did some measurements and calculations and got the chevrons evenly spaced up and down and all around! The client came by to pick it up and loved it. I showed her some cake bases to put the cake on and she chose the same one I had thought of. A couple of hours later I arrived at the venue where the shower was held and absolutely loved all of the details of the decor, the beautiful colors and the organic feel to it all. When I took a look at the cake, I said: "I knew it!" They had decorated the cake with some organic materials and added a nest on top as if they were saying that it would soon be filled with the precious baby! Hey, this is art, people! It was like looking at a painting and interpreting what the artist was saying with his creation. Just like their wonderful wedding, this shower was filled with lots of love. I enjoyed seeing the dessert table with the goodies that the future grandmother made. She made choco oreos and cake pops in blue and yellow. Beautiful! You could feel the warmth in the place.
Anyway, my cake was Leelee's specialty vanilla cake with nutella filling. Some people at the shower asked me for my number and said that not only was the cake beautiful e, but that it tasted delicious too. Yey!!!!

This client found me I think on my FB Page or this blog, I'm not really sure. She called me and asked me to make a cake for her exactly like a picture she sent me. This design is somebody else's and I just replicated it. I normally like doing things a bit different to personalize my work, but this customer wanted tan exact replica, so much so that she asked me if that would be a problem for me. I said no because truly the cake was very simple to make. It was a pretty cake so I did not mind replicating it. The flavor of this cake is Leelee's Vanilla with dulce de leche filling. Yum!!!! When the client came she really took a look at the cake and said: "Perfect". I really wasn't worried because it looked exactly like the picture.

Tinkerbell Cake, Cookies, and Cupcakes

I love making goodies for this client. She reminds me so much of me when my girls were little. Their birthdays, even if they were small celebrations, had to be detailed. She is a scrapbooker like me so she is into little details which I love. She wanted Tinkerbell cookies that had Tinkerbell on them and offered to lend me her Tinkerbell Cricut Cartdrige for me to use with my Cricut Cake. Let me tell you, it was a royal pain in the butt to cut them. Easier said than done, but I was so determined to make my friend happy, and me being as stubborn as I am, that I tried and tried until I got it! The only thing was getting Tink's eyes right without her looking like she was demon possessed, so I had to use my handy dandy edible markers that I only use for details. Don't really like the painted look, I prefer to piece things with the colored fondant because it looks more professional, but for something as small as this it really worked. Tinkerbell looked like herself, no exorcism required, lol! The cake was a small 6x6 cake for the birthday girl, 24 cupcakes decorated as a garden with flowers, and the infamous cookies that came out so pretty. When my friend picked up her baked goodies, her face lit up! She knew her precious little girl would be happy! Yey, love happy endings!

This is what I call "Dominicano hasta la tambora"! This client called me and asked if I could do a Dominican themed cake. She sent me a picture of the invitation she had made for her husband's 35th birthday. I'm happy she sent this to me because the only thing that popped in my head was the flag. lol! I got inspired by the instruments that actually make the sounds and rhythms of D.R.'s music; una tambora (drum), una güira, (don't ask, it looks line a grater to me), and an accordion. With these three instruments you can play the oh so popular merengue. So I pulled up some pictures from the internet of these items and went to town with my MMF with Tylose and created the flag, and instruments. Then the client called me and asked me to leave space on the cake for a "diablo cajuelo". I had no idea what that was. I just heard "diablo" and I was bent of of shape, but a good friend of mine told me what it was. It is a person dressed as a diablo or demon and comes out at the dominican carnivals. I left the space for her to add it. Anyway the cake's flavor is dominican with almond chantilly filling. Delicious!!!!! When the client picked up the cake, she was really pleased and I was happy...and here it is...

My first born turned 21 and she wanted a party. We debated as to what kind of a party it would be and we decided on a small, close friends and family party. It's funny, the family was missing in action, the only family I can really excuse is my family that live in the North East, but such is life, It's a matter of priorities. Hopefully we have instilled our kids with a better concept of what family truly is. Anyway, We had some finger foods, an amazing DJ with a great mix of dance music and Ashley's request for a dessert table. I created her invitations, The cake, and all the goodies. My baby girl had a blast and made me melt when she told me she was blessed to have a mom like me. Party colors were: Pink and Orange

Close to 17 years ago I made a wedding cake for a couple. Their wedding cake had columns, a water fountain and all those things that were super cool in those days, but if used today they would be considered tacky as heck! Every time these clients have a big event in their lives, they call me and ask if I still make cakes and up until now I have said yes, although I took a break for a while. Well, how time quickly flies! Their daughter turned 15 and guess who they asked to make her cake? Yes, you're right! Me! I was so happy to once again see this couple and felt privileged that after all these years they still sought me out to make such a special cake for their only little girl. I feel so blessed to have people that entrust me with things that are so special in their lives.

The cake is off white with sage green branches and peach colored flowers. The number is made out of Tylo and brushed with pearl dust to give it a sheen.

The flavor of this cake is Moist Amaretto covered in MMF.

Ladybug Baby Shower Cake and invite

Every once in a while I will do some graphic work for family and friends, never for clients. I don't want to put my hands in so many things like I have in the past and be overwhelmed. I designed this card for a girl's baby shower and she loved it. I am just putting it up here to share. No, I will not do these for clients. lol! Too much stress!

The cake I've done several times and if you search under ladybug, you will see different versions of it. Super cute for a shower or a little girls birthday. The flavor is marble cake with vanilla buttercream covered in MMF. I truly enjoy making the actual ladybug part of the cake.

Little Mermaid (total client disappointment)

I always post happy stories of clients being so satisfied with my work. Let me start by saying that this cake highly disappointed the client who ordered it. At first I thought she liked it because she left with it and did not say a word. I asked if she liked it and she said yes. I was thrilled to have made another customer happy. To my surprise, a while later I received a text from the client telling me how she had expected something else. My heart sank and I was shocked by it. I did not know what to say, so I swallowed my pride and apologized. The part that really hurt me was when minutes later she added that the recipient of the cake thought an amateur had made it. I was floored and so many emotions gushed through me, I had already had a hectic and crazy week and was battling some internal issues, aside from the fact that I was up to my nose in cake orders. I wish that part would have not been shared with me. I felt it was mean. It still resonates in my head. It made me cry for a bit and for an instant the remark made me feel inadequate, a feeling I thought I had overcome so many years ago. I wondered what went wrong. I dedicated time and effort to finishing up this cake as I do with each and every one I do. Then it hit me. I had said no to making this cake because truly I did not have the time. The person insisted so much that I obliged. I didn't dedicate time to speak to the client and really listen to what it was that she wanted as I do with every client. I just heard Little Mermaid and I proceeded to do her. See, I am so used to hearing clients tell me, "hey, do what you want, I trust you", but I always talked to them, interchanged ideas, etc. I simply did not have the time to do that, and although I disagree with the client as to my work looking like an amateur did it, I must say that I truly did not talk to her about the design she really wanted.

Lesson learned: Never overbook myself even if it's my mother begging me to do so. Always have clear conversations with clients of what they want and put it in writing. Continue working with excellence not letting rocks that I encounter along the way be stumbling rocks, but allow them to be stepping stones that will make the craft that I love so much become better.

This was an interesting cake to do. The client graduated with a Master degree in S.L.P. and wanted a fun cake that depicted this. Yeah, If you don't know what it is for, it seems a bit strange. She wanted it to look glittery and feminine just like her. I also made lips and ear cookies for her. When I delivered the cake she was arriving as well to her party and she was thrilled. This has been a very hectic and crazy week. I had three big cake orders plus Hello Kitty cookies. At one point I thought I had bitten more than I could chew, but realized that I had the time. It was just a matter of organizing myself and not letting myself get overwhelmed (it also helped that the hubby assisted me all the way). This cake was for a returning customer. She sent me a picture of what she wanted (this design is not mine). I changed a couple of things not to copy it 100%. I was very happy with how it turned out. When the customer picked it up she was super happy. The flavors are alternating tiers of red velvet with creamcheese frosting and Leelee's specialty rum cake. All covered in MMF. I have made this cake so many times that I can truly make it with my eyes closed. The only reason I decided to post it was because this one's a bit different. The client brought me a "Lolita" martini glass that he wanted me to use and for his wife to keep. This cake was larger than the others I have made in the past. It's a 14x14x3 cake. The flavor was Leelee's vanilla specialty cake with vanilla bean icing filling. covered in MMF. I absolutely loved the client's expression when he picked it up. He said it looked even better than the picture on my site. He also said that they do many events and that he is a policeman, and that from that moment on, they would hire me for all their parties. I try my hardest to create clean, impeccable work for my clients. I can truly say I am my worst critic. I will never be 100% satisfied with my work, but if the client is, that is what matters most. I made these cupcakes for a returning customer that I appreciate greatly. She is truly a fan of my work. I met her about a year ago that she ordered a cupcake tower for her 25th birthday. She knew exactly what she wanted and I was so happy to please her. She contacted me again because now she was having her bridal shower and her theme was Hawaiian. She showed me her invitation and it had a pink hibiscus flower. She wanted something around those lines or maybe sandals, or something depicting Hawaii. She told me she trusted me fully. So I decided since it was a bridal shower, to go with the flowers. I think they came out great and they are only made out of MMF mixed with a bit of tylose. I liked how they came out, but my client was even more impressed. She said: "I thought they would be a small little flat flower!" I also made cake pops for her and chhocolate covered Oreo cookies in her colors, lime green, hot pink and orange. The cupcake flavor was red Leelee's moist red velvet recipe with my specialty cream cheese frosting!

This was a big buttercream sheet cake. I really don't love making sheet cakes. I find them to be blah, unless you really do things to them that give them some dimension. Really, they're just a cake. I rarely get to work with buttercream, but every once in a while a client wants a buttercream cake. Well, I must say that I enjoyed tinting the buttercream and giving the water a bit of dimension. Used some fondant to make the sun and the palm trees. All in all, I was pleased with how it came out. Not so blah after all!

Spring Cookie Bouquet

This bouquet screams out Spring in a very "sweet" way! I thought it was a great idea to pair the cookies up with delicious red velvet and cream cheese buttercream icing pops covered in white chocolate that I tinted in lavender. I also added little flowers to the pops to make them look good with the rest of the cookies. This is a great bouquet, for your sweetheart on Valetine's, Mother's Day or just because! Tangled Cake and cookies

I made this cake for two precious little girls. When the mom told me that the party was Tangled I got extremely happy because I knew exactly what I would do. This was a pretty large cake. It is made out of marble loaf and rice cereal treats with vanilla bean frosting and covered with MMF. The middle support of the tower is a one inch dowel rod, 18 inches long that I covered with rice cereal treats, made by me (the store bought ones are a bit too soft for construction). The rest is all cake. I tried staying true to the colors of the invitations. I know that next time I make this cake again, it will have even more details because I already have the experience. This cake was so tall that it almost didn't fit in the car. We had to pull out the peak of the tower, but that wasn't a problem because the customer only had to put it back again once at the venue. I made cookies in the shape of crowns too. When the customer picked it up, she elated! Yey! I love happy customers!

The client asked me if I could create a cake for her scuba diver boyfriend that pets sharks, yes sharks!!! Yikes! She mentioned several elements she wanted on the cake: blond man with curly hair dressed in scuba gear, a diver's flag, a shark, marine life and for it to say "Happy 25th Birthday Brian". She told me that as long as it had those elements that I could do what I wanted, so I did exactly that. When she picked it up, she was super happy with how it had turned out! Yey! The diver, shark and flag are made out of tylose. the coral and sea life, and the wood sign are made out of Marshmallow fondant. The water effect was made with piping gel tinted in turqouise. I really loved how this cake turned out! Love the baby's face! This is a three tier cake that serves 80 people. The baby's head and lid are made of rice cereal treats. I finally mastered a way without killing myself for the treats to come out completely smooth (my little secret). This cake was made for a precious little girl that was turning 1. Her mommy wanted to have an enchanting cake fit for a princess. She told me she wanted it to have an edible crown and we agreed on a red velvet cake with cream cheese buttercream frosting and covered in MMF. Everyone was very happy with the cake, including the princess. The crown is made out of gumpaste and painted with edible silver.

Zebra Shoe Cake/Cupcakes

This was such a fun project for me. I absolutely LOVE shoes and zebra print! The mother of the bride to be showed me the invitation of the bridal shower and told me she wanted a shoe on a small cake and cupcakes. The shoe is all gumpaste that I painted in zebra print. I made 25 chocolate fudge cupcakes and 25 vanilla cupcakes and used zebra print cupcake liners. I made an 8x8 cake, covered it in fondant and hand painted the zebra print with food coloring diluted in vodka. She also ordered chocolate covered oreos, brownie/Nutella balls, chocolate covered strawberries and chocolate covered pretzels, all in coordinating colors. I made the cupcake tower and added ribbon trim in the colors and patterns used.

Ladybug Garden Cake

Ok, this is a 3 in 1 cake! This client is such a sweet girl. She found me on the web and called me up letting me know she wanted a cake for her sister in law's baby shower and that they expected approximately 300 guests. The theme was ladybugs. She asked me for advice for such a large order and had mentioned making a normal size cake with sheet cakes. I shy away from sheet cakes for many reasons that I'll explain on a later date. I suggested making the cakes something grandiose and the focal point of her theme. She agreed and told me she trusted me. I made a huge three tier cake with a cake ladybug on top, her head is MMF covered in fondant, and two smaller cakes with smaller ladybugs. Since it was for a baby shower I made the faces whimsical looking. The entire cake is edible with the exception of the antennas. I had the help of my hubby because the big cake was too heavy for me to carry. Later that day I received a text message from the client letting me know how much people loved the cake. Yey!!! I love what I do!

Word of mouth is key for this type of business! The client of this cake has seen my work from two of her friends that were referred to me by a co-worker (love you Maria!) Not only did they like my work, but they also loved the flavor of my cakes. I was flattered when this client brought me the invitation to the event and asked me what I could design for her. She loved my idea and I ran with it! I love clean, neat looking cakes that have simple, but elegant details with a focal point. When a client gives me carte blanche for me to design something for their very important event, I get a bit nervous. I was so pleased when she came to pick it up and all she said was, oh my! It's absolutely beautiful!!!! She then smiled at me! The branch and the butterfly are made of pastillage and MMF with Tylose.

Winter Wedding Cake and Dessert Table

I enjoyed making this simple, but beautiful cake for a very special couple that I have know for a while now. I couldn't be happier with the marriage of Steph and Danny. Steph knew exactly what she wanted and how she wanted it and I was happy to create what she had envisioned. She, and artist, made a simple sketch on a piece of paper and said to me, "this is what I want". The colors of her wedding were a light teal (not blue, not green) and soft grey, lovely! I made the cake using those two colors. The grey I incorporated on the fantasy flower that I made out of gumpaste. The top tier was a moist yellow cake with my vanilla bean buttercream, 8x4, The middle tier was 10x6 (she wanted that tier taller than the other two) was my rum/vanilla cake, and the bottom tier was a double chocolate fudge cake with the vanilla bean buttercream, 12x4.

I also made a very simple dessert table that had, chocolate chip merengues, marshmallows covered in white chocolate tinted in matching colors, sugar cookies in the shape of snowflakes, covered in MMF, Red Velvet cake pops.

I've been a little behind in posting my work on my blog. I've been a bit busy, but here goes! This Hawaiian Shirt was Pina Colada flavor and covered in MMF. I made it for a good friend's 50th birthday! He loved it and wore a shirt to match his cake, lol!

Ladybug Cake

I absolutely love making whimsical cakes for babies. This cake was for a little girl turning 1. All of the cake is red velvet cake, including the ladybug. The head of the ladybug is made of Rice Krispy treats. I was very pleased with the results and so was the mother. Thank you for looking!

Zoo Crew Baby Shower Cake

I totally enjoyed making these little animals for this cake. The animals are made of Tylose mixed with MMF. The cake is a 12X12 round, the flavor is marble loaf. All covered with MMF. The cookies are butter vanilla sugar cookies covered in MMF as well as the animal faces. The mommy to be loved her cake and cookies. Another satisfied customer.

Hollywood Stars

These are two Small cakes for a Hollywood themed get together celebrating the birthdays of a couple. I used MMf which I tinted in black and painted the star and tiny balls in gold dust diluted in vodka. The flavor of these cakes was Leelee's specialty vanilla cake.

Topsy Turvey Turquoise & Gold

I made this Topsy Turvey cake for a 15 year old young lady that knew exactly what she wanted. We looked and three different cakes she had seen and loved and came out with this. I love how it came out. The flavor is coconut rum. The numbers and all the elements are make out of MMF and/or gumpaste. The color gold is edible painted in on. Super fun!

This is a very popular theme for little girls first birthday parties. This is not exactly how the person that ordered all these elements will be placing them, but I wanted to see how they would look arranged and to give people ideas on how to prepare a very simple dessert table. Thanks for looking. The flavor of the cake is moist red velvet, the cookies were vanilla bean, the cupcakes and mini cakes were vanilla and chocolate. The kind of flavors that children love!

I made this cake for my sister's 50th birthday! I took some of my pans and utensils to Rhode Island from Miami so that I could make it over there. I had such a great time as I was creating this cake for my sister. She was with me in the kitchen as I worked and we laughed and reminisced about so many wonderful things and giggled like crazy. I believe it was another memory created for the two of us. Anyway, back to the cake, it was for 100 people. All edible. I used edible silver for the disco ball and gumpaste for the silhouettes and the 50. My sister absolutely loved it! Thanks for looking!

Pots and Pans Cake

This cake was made for a lady that was turning 50. This cake was so fun to make! I followed the sketch and tried staying true to colors and everthing as the sketch. Everything is edible. The board was covered in white fondant marked like tiles. The lady holding the the wooden spoon is a sugar cookie that I decorated with MMF and Royal icing. The pots handle is made of RTK covered in white chocolate and fondant.

Mickey Mouse Playhouse

The client was torn between two cakes she saw, one that I had made, and the other one she had found online. She didn't know what to do so I suggested that we took a little bit of both and come up with a design that had the two things she liked most of both cakes. She told me she liked the idea and that she trusted that whatever I came up with would be great. When she came to pick up the cake she absolutely loved it. I wish I could have taken a picture of her face. This is what I love about what I do. Not only does it bring me joy by being able to create these art pieces, but the reaction of a satisfied customer is priceless to me!

Minnie Mouse Cupcake Tower

Ok, This month has been for this character, I have had several orders and it has been variations of this which I have done several times already, So I won't post all of them. Only this on because it is smaller than what I had done before and it works for a tower. I also made 80 cupcakes for this order, plus more cupcakes for other clients. I still have two more orders like this before December is over. I guess Minnie is really popular right now! Thanks for looking!

Shark for a "Tiburon" Cake

This cake was so much fun to make! My friend wanted to surprise her boss with a cake that depicted what they call him at the work place. My friend was very happy with how the cake turned out and so did her boss! The flavor was a french vanilla pound cake with vanilla bean buttercream filling and covered in fondant.
